About our family:
Shawn and Dani have farming in their family going back multiple generations. After getting married in 2011 they were able to purchase their own ranch and get started on their dream of raising high quality black angus cattle. Since then, they have been blessed to add 2 beautiful daughters to their family who are already showing a huge love for the ranch life.
At Simple Meats our main objective is to raise cattle that are happy and healthy. We pride ourselves on looking at every cow in our herd every day to ensure their well-being. Our black angus cattle are raised on the beautiful green grass pastures of Ohio and then finished on high quality grain. We never give our cattle growth hormones and our meat is guaranteed antibiotic free.
Why do we say our cattle are high quality? When we started our ranch in 2011 we hand picked or first set of cows for their genetic marbling and ribeye ability. So in turn, as we have bred our cows to grow our herd, we continue to get a high quality product. All black angus cattle are not created equal. Our cattle are 100% Registered Black Angus (not too many companies can say that) which means that we can trace our cows back for generations. This helps us predict the future of our meat quality. Here at Simple Meats we enjoy knowing that the meat we produce on our ranch for our clients is much healthier than what is in most grocery stores today.
Cinch is an Australian shepherd who has been a part of the ranch since the beginning. He loves to tag along when doing chores but now in his old age will get tired and meander on back to the porch for rest. He’s the best security alarm you can have. In his spare time he enjoys belly rubs and laying by the barn keeping an eye on everything.
Dally is a border collie mix who LOVES to help out on the ranch. Her cattle instinct is always on point. She aims to please in everything she does. We can’t check cattle, doctor calves or even slip on our boots without her by our heels. When she isn’t helping on the ranch she enjoys playing fetch, irritating the barn cats, snuggling our kids and relaxing on the porch.
Dixie is a registered bay quarter horse. She is the main horse that Shawn uses on the ranch to gather and check cattle. Dixie enjoys it if you scratch her on her chest and sometimes she’ll even give you a smile.
Chunky Brown is a bay quarter horse that truly lives up to his name. He lived many years on a ranch in Missouri before he came to us. Our daughter loves riding him on the ranch helping move cattle and learning new things. Chunky Brown will always meet you at the gate to say hello because he hopes you have a treat for him.
Mack is a registered red roan quarter horse. He was born and raised on a ranch in Texas. We are working with him to get more acquainted with ranch work as he is still fairly young. Mack enjoys having his long mane braided and likes a good scratch behind his ears.
Cheerio is a black pony that acts more like a dog than a horse. He doesn’t do any ranch work but he is the perfect pony that teaches our kids the basics of caring for a horse. Cheerio is one of the first animals on the ranch that guests want to say hello to and he is always ready to soak up the attention.
